– VP Engineering – GPO  – 

Richard is currently VP Engineering for the Global Project Organisation (GPO) of BP. He leads a globally distributed team of approximately 400 discipline engineers and engineering managers who are deployed onto BP’s Upstream major projects. Annual capital expenditure on these projects is approximately $6 billion. In addition, Richard is VP for Global Facilities Hardware - the centralised organisation within GPO which develops and maintains our technical specifications for procurement of standardised equipment and holds the relationships with our key Global Agreement partners. Richard is the BP executive sponsor for the Engineering Services Global Agreements and the key GPO Global Agreement Vendors. He is currently the Lead for the IOGP JIP-33 Scale-Up Project intent on harmonising and minimising operator requirements to create industry standard engineering, quality and data specifications for equipment procurement. He is also the Chairman of the IOGP Standards Committee. Richard has 30 years experience with BP projects in both Upstream and Downstream. He has led engineering and technical teams in conceptual design, FEED studies, detailed engineering, commissioning and plant technical support. He has an excellent delivery track record spanning involvement on major projects in Asia, UK, USA and Africa. He is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers. Before moving into engineering management he performed the role of Lead Process Engineer in Projects for over 10 years. He lives in London with his wife and 3 children.

Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre

– Managing Director –

Dave joined CPI in January 2019 to take up the role of Managing Director for the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre.


The Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre is a collaboration between industry, academia and government.  CPI is working together with the University of Strathclyde and founding industry partners, AstraZeneca and GSK. With government funding support secured from Scottish Enterprise and Innovate UK, the Centre will be located in Renfrewshire, Scotland.


Prior to this Dave worked for GSK.  He joined there in 1992 at Worthing as a PhD Chemist from Glasgow University.  He has over 20 years’ experience with the company carrying out a number of Technical, Compliance and Manufacturing leadership roles.  In 1997 he moved to Irvine to take up a lead chemist role before coming Quality Control Manager in 1998.  He joined the site leadership team in 2001 to run Technical Development before moving to manufacturing as Actives Production Director in 2005.  During this time he completed a Masters degree in Manufacturing Leadership at Cambridge University.  In 2007 he moved to GSK House to work on a central network re-structuring project before becoming Site Director at Montrose in October 2008.  At Montrose, he led the transformation of the site to manufacture over 12 products for GSK including a major investment programme.  In 2011 he was appointed VP Primary Supply Chain with responsibility for global Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacture and supply, a network of GMS sites across the world including facilities in Asia and Europe.  In 2017 he was appointed VP Head of GMS Strategy with responsibility for manufacturing strategy, deployment of strategic programs, performance management and advocacy.


He plays an active role with a number of Governments and is currently co-chair of the Life Sciences Scotland Industry Leadership Group.

Roel Van Doren is the Executive Sponsor for Emerson Global Users Exchange. The Executive Sponsor’s role is to provide guidance and support to the User-led Emerson Exchange organisation. Roel has over 20 years of experience with Emerson and has held a variety of positions at Emerson including Engineering, Operations and Sales Management in various countries in Europe, as well as in North America. Roel is currently the President for Emerson Automation Solutions Europe, based in the European Head Quarters in Baar, Switzerland.


His educational background includes a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Vidya Ramnath

– President Middle East & Africa –

Vidya Ramnath is responsible for the Emerson Automation Solutions organisation serving the Middle East and Africa. Vidya has been a significant contributor for Emerson over the past 24 years. She started her career in Rosemount operations and spent several years in Rosemount, Flow and Plantweb Solutions & Services business units where she held various positions of increasing responsibilities and functions. Vidya led a Global Pervasive Sensing Center of Excellence in Singapore, which showcased engineering solutions to help industrial plants operate more efficiently, reliably and safely. Most recently, Vidya was Vice President, Emerson Automation Solutions Asia Pacific, heading up Rosemount Measurement & Analytical based in Singapore, she and her team were responsible for the strong growth of Emerson’s wireless business in Asia Pacific. Vidya successfully engineered a larger and more cohesive presence for the Instrumentation business units across the Asia Pacific region. She formed and led the Project Management Engineering Teams in Singapore, India and China and led the development of Asia Pacific Application Specialist Teams.


Vidya holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Sciences in Industrial Engineering. She is passionate about mentoring young Leaders and is a MEA.
