The PlantWeb Excellence
Award: Squeezing the juice out of the technology.
Some engineering teams solve problems with the basic features and
functionalities found in PlantWeb – all they need is the zest of the
orange.
Others need to get a little more out of the PlantWeb architecture – so
they pick and choose from the features they need – like picking a few
orange wedges off a plate.
But a few engineering teams require much more – so they squeeze PlantWeb
until they have all the juice it has to offer.
The Board wishes to recognize a facility that really gets the juice out
of today’s technology by presenting a PlantWeb Excellence Award. Upon
acceptance of an abstract submitted in the PlantWeb Implementation track for a presentation at Emerson
Exchange, users will have the opportunity to nominate their facility for
the PlantWeb Excellence Award.
Submission Criteria
The plant must adhere to a PlantWeb strategy:
-
digital-capable devices that provide field intelligence using onboard
microprocessors, embedded software, and open-standard communications
-
open communication standards linking field intelligence, systems, and
applications in a plant-wide network
-
DeltaV or Ovation automation systems that make the most of PlantWeb's
predictive intelligence
-
consolidated valuable asset information collected using AMS Suite
technologies
The plant must demonstrate some of the following PlantWeb benefits:
-
reduce project risk
-
reduce operations and maintenance costs
-
lower your project cost
-
improve product quality
-
shorten your overall project schedule
-
increase throughput
-
improve availability
-
optimize safety, health and environmental compliance
-
reduce cost of energy and utilities
The plant’s run time may be important:
-
If the plant is demonstrating only startup benefits, the plant must be
commissioned and running
-
If the plant is demonstrating operational benefits, it must have been
running long enough to quantify those benefits
-
No limit to run time – it could have been online for years
Note: Your PowerPoint presentation must make these points. If it does not, you will be
required to submit an additional abstract and PowerPoint to cover the points requested if
you wish to be considered for the PlantWeb Excellence Award.
Selecting the Winner
-
The Emerson Exchange Board reviews presentation abstract submitted in the PlantWeb Implementation track to identify the top candidates for the award.
-
Emerson will conduct a formal interview of the top candidates.
-
A committee comprised of Emerson Exchange Board members review the
interviews of each finalist to determine a winner based on the most
comprehensive achievement of selection criteria plus other deciding
factors such as scope of project, innovative solution, complexity,
ingenuity and vision in deployment.
-
The winner will be announced at the annual Emerson Exchange meeting.
