- Share your best practices with peers
- Influence and enhance process automation at plants around the world
*A waiver of registration fees will be granted for ONE person for each accepted Workshop and TWO persons for each accepted Short Course. The fee waiver is contingent upon final acceptance of the PowerPoint presentation by July 2, 2012 and approval by the track mentor.
Abstract Requirements
It is highly recommended that you prepare and save the following information in a word-processing document before you actually enter it into the online submission application. The submission application will time-out after 60 minutes and you will lose anything you've entered unless you save each step in the path.
Here is a list of required information per abstract:
- Abstract/Session Title
- Session Type (see below for types)
- Technical Level (Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced)
- Session Abstract (600 characters max)
- What Problems / Challenges Were Resolved? (400 character limit)
- Solution? (400 character limit)
- What Results / Benefits Were Realized? (400 character limit)
- Track (see below for tracks)
- What Industry are you in?
- What job function does your abstract apply to?
- Presenter / Co-Presenter(s) (name, email address and company required)
Download a PDF form of the required abstract fields to prepare and save your abstract before entering it online. Abstracts must be entered via the Call for Presentations submission site, please do not email/submit the PDF document.
Selection Process
The Emerson Exchange Board of Directors Presentations Committee will review all submitted abstracts and will select presentations that will be of high value to conference attendees. Here are other tips to help get your presentation/abstract approved:
- Have an end user author and presenter with real world examples
- Include financial impact - Quantifiable Business Results
- Use technical 'how to' explanations
- Explain unique solutions to difficult problems
- Don't include proprietary information, trade secerts, etc.
- Avoid negatively referring to other solutions, vendors, etc.
- Refrain from 'marketing hype'
- Ensure that your abstract accurately explains your proposed presentation, and vice versa.
The most outstanding presentation in each track will be awarded "Best in Conference", with a formal prsentation of the award at the conference.
Deadlines
Abstract Due by March 19
Notification of Acceptance: April 19 - 26
Initial PowerPoint Presentation: July 2
Final PowerPoint Presentation: Aug 13
Type of SessionsWhen submitting your abstract(s), please note the following types of sessions:
Workshop (45 minutes): Typically presents a case history, a project experience, and/or specific tips or techniques used (or learned) during a project implementation – for example, 'how I used one or more Emerson products/services or a complementary vendors' product/service (HyTork actuators, radar gauges, AMS, InTools, Syncade, Pepperl+Fuchs with DeltaV, Blending Package, Inspect, etc.) to solve a problem or improve my process'.
Short Course (minimum of 90 minutes, maximum of 3 hours): Provides organized instruction on a particular technology, application, project tool, or methodology – for example: Fieldbus, Valve Sizing, SIS, System Life Planning. These are often taught by Emerson or process industry "experts" and/or Emerson's Educational Services instructors.
