The Chairman's Message

February, 2003

Mike SorelWow!!  Where does the time go?  Valentine’s Day has just whizzed by and we’re already a third of the way through the year to the next users conference.

The Emerson Global Users Exchange Board of Directors has been hard at work.  The Call for Papers went out in early December and we’re hoping for a great response from YOU.  One of the top comments that the Board gets every year is “more user papers”.  But it takes users. It takes YOU.  If you have a great example or testimonial of a business improvement as a result of PlantWeb, present it!  If you have a unique and successful application or implementation of the PlantWeb technologies, present it!  The deadline for submitting an abstract is March 31st.  It takes the commitment of the users to make a user conference successful.

I also want to remind you that this year’s Emerson Exchange has been expanded to include ALL of Emerson Process Management’s divisions, including Process Systems & Process Solutions, Micro Motion, Rosemount, Westinghouse, Asset Management Solutions, CSI, Brooks, Daniel, Fisher Valves, Emerson Valve Automation and more.  This means more information on more subjects and more contacts to help you do your job.  And, unlike a trade show, the Emerson Exchange gives you the opportunity during the conference to hear about successful applications of these technologies and to talk with the people that made them happen.

Lastly, I hope that you’re preparing to come to this year Emerson Global Users Exchange, September 29 through October 3, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN.  We are planning five days filled with opportunity.  John Berra, executive vice president of Emerson and head of the process management business, will be one of our keynote speakers.  We’ve added a couple of Management Roundtables as an added forum for discussions and a “State of the Business” section to explore the changes in our business and profession.  It will be a great conference!  So mark your calendars and start bugging your boss.  This is going to be a tremendous event.

As always, we would appreciate your ideas, comments and participation.  Please feel free to contact myself (225-642-1249), or any member of the Board, if you have questions or feedback on the conferences or the Emerson Global Users Exchange.  We hope that you will come back to our web site throughout the year to keep abreast of developments in our organization.
