Another successful year is well underway!
Once again, the
“Call for Presentations” has sparked the submittal of over 450 abstracts
for our upcoming conference. By the looks of the content, the
Papers/Presentations committee will have another challenging few months
ahead of them deciding which abstracts will get accepted for Workshop and
Short Course presentations.
This year’s
conference will once again be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention
Center on Lake Grapevine, just outside of Dallas, Texas. For those of you
who attended our 2004 event, you will remember that the Gaylord Texan was a
brand new facility at that time, and I am confident that their Texas
hospitality will once again shine for our Emerson Exchange members!
As an aside for
those of you who lean towards the ‘techno-geek’ side like myself, if you
search Google Maps for “Gaylord Texan” and check the ‘hybrid’ view, you can
see that the satellite imagery still does not show the facility…It is still
that new!
Our conference is
a little earlier this year, from Sept 10th – 14th, so
mark your calendars early as on-line registration will open on June 1st
at
www.EmersonExchange.org.
As engineers, we
are at a great moment in time where our engineering career decisions have
really started to pay off. From my own experience and from conversations
with others, the phones are ringing off the hook from headhunters and the
on-line job search engines are overflowing with careers in the engineering
fields.
This is our time,
and our 2007 conference theme is very fitting…
