The Chairman's Message

July, 2002

Herman StoreyWelcome!

This year’s Fisher-Rosemount Systems User Group Conference will be an excellent forum for users, vendors, engineers, and company managers to meet and shape the future in process control.

Game Changing Results” is the theme for the 2002 FRSUG Conference, scheduled for September 3-6 in beautiful San Diego, and will feature presentations by users about the unprecedented results they are achieving with PlantWeb, DeltaV, and AMS technologies.

The FRSUG conference offers users of Emerson Process Management products and services, as well as, other process industry professionals an excellent venue to:

  • learn methods for improving project efficiency and managing system lifecycle cost

  • expand their knowledge of advanced control, data connectivity & flow to ERP systems, asset optimization, and digital bus technologies

  • get hands-on demonstrations and presentations of new Emerson Process Management technologies, products, and services

  • network and establish valuable relationships with other process industry professionals and experts

  • acquire useful information for increasing the value of their PlantWeb, DeltaV and AMS investments

  • discuss new product development with Emerson’s engineering staff and management

  • learn how to connect and transition other vendors’ distributed control systems to DeltaV and PlantWeb

  • investigate complementary products and solutions from other control industry vendors

  • converse face-to-face with Emerson executives, technologists, account managers, and product specialists

Andy Chatha, President of ARC Advisory Group, and Paul Berwanger, Global Engineering Director for Millenium Chemical will provide insightful presentations about process automation and the industry during Tuesday afternoon’s general session.  Mr. Chatha will elaborate on ARC’s recently published report finding that  “… approximately $65 billion worth of legacy process control systems are in use that are rapidly approaching the end of their traditional lifecycle of 15 to 25 years.”  Mr. Berwanger’s “Finding the Hidden Plant” presentation explains how Millenium, by utilizing PlantWeb technology and Emerson’s loop audit services, was able to avoid building a new manufacturing plant in order to meet increased production levels.

Additionally, over 60 workshop presentations have been contributed by users, local business partners, contractors and consultants, providing instruction, insight, and tips about how Emerson solutions have been implemented to change the game in their businesses and plants.  Original strategies, inventive methods, and updated approaches to solving some of today’s control and operational challenges are all included in the conference agenda.

The product exhibit hall hours are being extended this year to provide for demonstrations and user discussions on three consecutive conference days, giving attendees additional time to meet and talk with Emerson and other control solution providers.

FRSUG hasn’t left out exceptional entertainment either.  On Thursday evening, Emerson will host a classic Beach Party, set on Coronado Island’s oceanfront beach - drinks, food, music, and more with a Pacific coast sunset for background!

Questions regarding the user group or conference may be directed to Stacey Cloud in Austin (512-834-7233, Stacey.Cloud@EmersonProcess.com).

We look forward to seeing you in San Diego!
