The Chairman's MessageJuly, 2001 This
is the official web page of the Fisher-Rosemount Systems Users
Group. If you are a member, welcome to your web page. If you’re
not a member, look around and see what you’ve been missing. Each
month we will be posting information about your user’s group and
highlight a member of the user board of directors. The board is
comprised of user representatives from each of the
Fisher-Rosemount product lines (RS3, PROVOX, and DeltaV).
Throughout the year we will be adding information to make your web
page more helpful. So don’t be bashful and tell a board
member what you want to see!I’m really looking forward to our conference in New Orleans. The facilities at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside are great and I cannot begin to describe the food. We are working to bring you just what you want - solutions to your problems. We are lining up speakers who have been there and done what you need to make your control system work as you want it. Our workshops are intended to be tandems of user and Fisher-Rosemount speakers. This will give a balance of user and vendor perspective. We are interested in what you have done with your PRoVOX, RS-3 and/or DeltaV system. What have you connected it to? How far have you stretched the operating boundaries? We’ve had tremendous response to our request for papers and have more users signed up to present than ever before. Take a look at the descriptions to see what you have to look forward to. The product showcase area will be the same 20,000 sq. ft. size as last year in Austin. You’ll see DeltaV controllers operating PROVOX and RS3 I/O. To run AMS diagnostics passing through DeltaV through whatever I/O to "smart" field devices, be they HART or Fieldbus. In other words, to see what is possible today for migrating your existing control system to keep as much of your current investment and still enter the 2000s. Earlier our featured board member just evolved into working with distributed control systems. He began his career in organic chemistry and before he knew it he was hooked on DCS work. This month’s board member at least started life as an EE. He should have seen it coming and got out before it was too late. Now he is addicted like the rest of us. Herman E. Storey comes to us from Equilon Enterprises LLC. by way
of Shell Oil Co. after completing his "informal" education
at Louisiana Tech. He completed his "formal" education in
