The Changing Landscape of Refining: Safety, Profitability, Ethanol, and Canadian Crude

  • Improving Safety AND Profitability an Ultra-Competitive Market

  • The Supply Chain Challenges of Ethanol and Canadian Crude

There are significant and fast-moving changes in the global refining marketplace in the area of supply chain composition as well as in safety and profitable operations.

The increased focus on alternative fuels, especially ethanol, has been prevalent in the press and on the agendas of numerous NPRA and API conferences. The steady ramping up of Canadian crude oil flowing from the Alberta basin to refiners is resulting in major capital investments by North American refiners to handle this new breed of crude feedstock.

Safety, always a top priority, has been elevated to an even higher level of emphasis in recent months. The need for refiners to ensure safety even as they implement technology and operational changes to improve profitability is a complex issue that faces all refiners in this new pressurized environment of supply and demand challenge.

Our panel of customer experts will discuss the issues surrounding this re-positioned refining supply chain, as well as highlighting examples of utilization of safety and profitability tools to improve overall operational excellence.
